General Gas, a major chemical company in the Milan area specialising in the production of gas, dry ice and lubricants, needed a “Print and Apply” labelling system to optimise the quality and efficiency of its workflow.
Labelpack implemented a well-calibrated two-printer system for the customisation of each label, optimally integrated with the rest of the plant, which includes a turntable collection system for any overload.
The solution met the company’s expectations, automating the application of the labels and improving the quality and speed of the process, enabling the desired productivity standards to be achieved without the manual intervention of the operator.
Prior to the introduction of our system, General Gas did not have an automatic labelling solution: coolant cans were labelled manually, without achieving the desired daily productivity. The operation was slow, as the operator had to print and apply each label individually, often with difficulty in precise positioning. The company approached us with the objective of realising a project that would guarantee high standards of hourly productivity, while maintaining a high level of customisation.
In this context, the company’s requirements were:

- Reduce operator workload;
- Customise label application;
- Integrate the new automatic labelling system with the rest of the line.

The labelling system with printing unit we have developed is configured to print and apply labels on the sides of coolant cans, with two printers allowing customisation for each application.
Thanks to a calibrated transport system, COMPACT DS PLUS can handle various cans sizes, guaranteeing precise label application.
At the end of the cycle, a rotating table facilitates the collection and storage of the finished products, also allowing any overloads to be managed for a continuous and efficient workflow.
The installation was simple and linear, and thanks to excellent teamwork, we were able to integrate smoothly with the existing system, creating a complete system for labelling General Gas’ chemicals.
The machine automated the printing and labelling process, eliminating manual operator intervention and increasing speed, accuracy and customisation in every application.
General Gas was very pleased with the project and the results, confirming that expectations were fully met.
